Traveling in exotic islands of Croatia
One of the major attractions for the tourists and travelers in Croatia is its exotic islands. There are as many as 1185 islands in and around Croatia. 783 out of them are inhabited and some are highly modernized and contain all the amenities of the modern urban life including hotels and apartments.
For example the Krk Island is connected with the mainland of Croatia through a bridge. There are as many as 68 townships and villages in this island that is inhabited by 16000 people. The main spots of tourist interest on this island are Baska, krk, Niivice, and Punat. There are also Malinska and Omisali. In foods and beverages the town of Yrbnik is famous for the Zlahtina wine.
The island of Cres is unique due to its natural beauty and contrasting landscapes. It has the highest mountain peak in Croatia called Gorica that is 648 meters high and the freshwater lake Vrana whose bottom is almost 68 meters below the sea level. This contrasting nature gives this island a prime place in most of the Croatia travel guide books. Cres has 29 townships and villages with Cres, Osor, Valun, Beli and Martinscica being the largest among them.
In Dalmatia the largest island is Brac that is the prime target of visitors. The highest island peak of Croatia named Vidova gora that is 778 meters high is located here. The island has 22 towns and village and a population of nearly 14,000. Brac is famous for Zlatni rat beach located near the Bol town. It also has a small airport with direct flight to some of the European countries making it easier for tourists to come directly to Brac.
